Job Summary/Description:
Analyses specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools by performing the following duties.

Objective:
To manufacture, assemble, maintain, and improve tools and dies with high precision, ensuring consistent production quality, reduced downtime, and compliance with safety and engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling, EDM machine to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
  • Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.
    · Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
    · Verify dimensions of finished parts to ensure they conform to specifications using dial indicators, gauge blocks, callipers, and micrometres
    · Design templates and jigs to be used as work aids for convenient fabrication of products and parts
    · Interface with external and internal customers, handle supplier and customer concerns, and work with team members to solve problems during the production process
    · File and finish workpieces using the appropriate hand tools to ensure products are smooth and that they fit together properly
    · Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
    · Select the appropriate metals and materials to be used based on properties, ensuring they meet project specifications
    · Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and perform repairs on tools, manually operated dies and progressive dies
  • Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product using computer-aided design software (2D/3D drawings)
    · Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

· Lathe Machine
· Milling Machine
· Surface Grinder
· Drilling Machine
· Jig Boring Machine
· Cylindrical Grinding Machine
· Precision Measuring Instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Dial Gauge, Height Gauge)
· Roling Machine is an advantage

Software/Computer :
· Advanced skills in MS Office
· Knowledge about SAP
· AutoCAD

Skills & Competencies:
· Carry out FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) process documentation and implement improvements.
· Aware about ISO/IATF Procedure, audits & documentation.
· Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
· Manage the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
· MIS reports and make presentations.
· Strong knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment, and tolerances
· Good understanding of press tools and die mechanisms
· Ability to read and understand technical drawings and GD&T(Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
· Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Ability to work independently and in a team

Experience:
Two to five years of experience in tool and die making Excellent technical skills, with the ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot mechanical problems
Experience working with a wide range of materials such as aluminium, steel, and Teflon etc.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
