3655) Purchase Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Planning & Procurement

• Review daily material shortage reports and stock status through ERP/OneDrive systems.
• Monitor material requirements as per customer schedules, production plans, and purchase requisitions.
• Verify availability of new and regular materials before procurement initiation.
• Ensure daily update of stock and procurement status records.

2. Purchase Operations

• Float RFQs to multiple suppliers for new and shortage materials.
• Collect, analyze, and compare quotations from vendors.
• Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, payment terms, and commercial conditions.
• Finalize suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
• Generate and release Purchase Orders after approval.

3. Category Management

Responsible for procurement of:

• Hydraulic Components
• Electrical Components
• Bought-Out Parts (BOP)
• MS Structural Materials
• Aluminium Materials
• Bearings
• ACP Sheets
• Tyres
• MS Flat, Angle, Square Pipe, Rectangular Pipe and related fabrication materials
• Production consumables and project-specific materials

1. Supplier Management

• Develop and identify new suppliers for cost optimization and supply continuity.
• Source local suppliers for urgent and critical requirements.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Resolve commercial and delivery issues with suppliers.
• Escalate unresolved issues to management when required.

1. Purchase Order Follow-up

• Follow up with suppliers for order acknowledgment and delivery commitment.
• Monitor open purchase orders and expedite delayed deliveries.
• Coordinate with stores and production teams regarding incoming materials.
• Amend Purchase Orders for quantity, rate, or specification changes after management approval.

1. Payment Coordination

• Initiate advance payment requests where applicable.
• Coordinate with Accounts Department for advance and credit payment processing.
• Follow up on payment releases to ensure timely material dispatch.
• Verify supplier credit terms and payment confirmations.

1. Material Tracking & Logistics

• Track material movement through supplier portals, courier services, and transporters.
• Arrange transportation and vehicles for material movement from suppliers to plant.
• Coordinate with transporters for timely delivery.
• Visit transporter or supplier locations when required to resolve urgent delivery issues.

1. Store & Inventory Coordination

• Conduct daily visits to stores to review material inward status.
• Verify material receipts against invoices and purchase orders.
• Take immediate action on short receipt, excess receipt, or material discrepancies.
• Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages proactively.

1. Production Coordination

• Visit production departments daily to understand material requirements.
• Ensure material availability for production and dispatch commitments.
• Take immediate action on critical shortages impacting manufacturing schedules.

1. Material Quality Coordination

• Coordinate with Quality and Production teams to confirm material grades, brands, and technical specifications before procurement.
• Ensure purchased materials meet approved specifications.

1. Meetings & Reporting

• Participate in daily production, stores, and management review meetings.
• Present material shortage status and procurement action plans.
• Maintain procurement reports, vendor records, and purchase documentation.

Required Skills

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of fabrication materials and OEM manufacturing procurement.
• Understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and bought-out components.
• Vendor sourcing and supplier development.
• Cost analysis and negotiation techniques.
• Inventory and material planning.

Software Skills

• ERP/MRP systems.
• Microsoft Excel.
• Microsoft One Drive and shared tracking systems.
• Email and procurement documentation tools.

Experience in fabrication, OEM manufacturing, heavy engineering, or industrial equipment manufacturing preferred.
