3503) Design & Development Manager

🎯Role Overview
An accomplished Lead of Design with 08 to 10 years of experience in the OEM or Material Handling OEM industry. The candidate will lead a team of 2 to 3 design engineers, oversee development of existing products, and drive new product development initiatives.
The role requires expertise in material selection, design validation, drawing review, and purchase requisition approvals, as well as active involvement in ERP implementation to strengthen digital design integration with procurement and production processes.

🎓Key Responsibilities :

• Lead and manage the Design Department team (2 to 3 engineers) to achieve project and company objectives.
• Oversee development and improvement of existing equipment designs.
• Drive new product development (NPD) from concept to production, ensuring cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, BOMs, and purchase requisitions before release to the Purchase Department.
• Ensure material selection and design specifications meet product, safety, and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Procurement teams to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing.
• Actively participate in ERP system implementation, with focus on:

1. Design data integration (drawings, BOMs).
2. Defining design-related workflows and approvals.
3. Supporting digitalization of design-to-procurement processes.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
• Monitor design timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Mentor and develop the design team for technical expertise and innovation.
• Provide regular status reports to management on product development, ongoing projects, and departmental performance.

• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Expertise in OEM / material handling equipment design
• Proven track record in new product development
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and engineering design principles
• Strong knowledge of material selection, manufacturing processes, and GD&T
• Familiarity with quality standards, safety norms, and product validation techniques
• Understanding of ERP systems and ability to contribute to ERP implementation
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration abilities

💼Qualifications & Experience

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering
• 08 to 10 years of experience in Design & Development in the OEM or Material Handling OEM industry
• Experience in leading a design team and managing multiple projects
