Key Responsibilities
• Create and modify detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using tools such as SolidWorks / Creo / AutoCAD.
• Work with senior mechanical and system engineers to develop and optimize mechanical concepts for defence electronics.
• Design enclosures, chassis, brackets, fixtures, and mechanical interfaces suitable for harsh operating environments.
• Support prototype development, fitment checks, and design validation activities.
• Conduct design reviews focusing on manufacturability, assembly, cost, and reliability.
• Prepare BOMs, assembly drawings, tolerance stack ups, and GD&T documentation.
• Coordinate with manufacturing plants for drawing clarification, feedback, and implementation of design changes.
• Ensure compliance with internal engineering standards, applicable industry norms, and safety requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
• Understanding of materials, fasteners, sheet metal, machining, and basic thermal concepts.
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical drawings.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in cross functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail and structured problem solving approach.
Preferred (but not essential)
• Exposure to product development or R&D environments.
• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, or die casting.
• Basic understanding of vibration, shock, or thermal considerations.
